December 10, 2007
A
bout 18 women in the Off the Streets program, graduates, and staff attended our Christmas party.  The pizza, salad, snacks, and holiday goodies were a hit. Christmas music was blaring as the tree was decorated by some of the women while others sat and chatted with new and old friends. The gifts were gratefully received. We had a Christmas sing-a-long and ended the evening with a Soul Train Line...which is a must for your next party! The women thanked us by presenting a large homemade card with a lovely and touching poem written by the women. (posted below.  Thanks to Lauren Rogers for organizing the party and to everyone who helped make it a wonderful celebration for all!

In a large card with a rose on the front:  BLOOMING WITH LOVE
'Tis the season for recovery
In the program, we've made a discovery...
God has sent a gang of women into the lives
of those with lonely and broken hearts;
Xtraordinary Women, thanks for fixing our parts,
showing us how it feels to be loved...
My God, you all are  a blessing sent from above.

Thank you for all the turkey at Thanksgiving,
Now it's Christmas and the stockings are filling...
What it boils down to is that the name
Xtraordinary Women is especially for
You all because you are all an
Extraordinary blessing!

With all our love,
OTS (SIgned by 13 women in the program)

OTS receives the Robert Wood Johnson grant.  Over 4-years, the money they will receive is $438,850 to continue building and bettering this important program.  Being able to demonstrate ability to raise funds from the private sector was instrumental in being selected for this grant.  As part of the grant requirements, OTS must raise a matching $438,850 during the same 4-year period.
